Just venting....don't mind me

  • May. 13th, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Not sure if I should be as irritated about this as I am....what do you do when a co-worker crosses a line that they should not have in a discussion? What about if they don't know they crossed a line with me? I don't want to go into too many specifics, but they've been picking on me a bit, asking me when I'm going to have a baby. I can take teasing all in fun, but a question was presented to me that pretty much pissed me off. It probably wouldn't have bothered anyone else, but everyones circumstances are different and it did hurt me. Not sure if I should let it go or what. I'll probably let it go, if I have to explain that it hurt me, I'll have to go into why, and it's no ones business but mine. Yes I do want a child, hopefully before I'm 40, and I don't mind being teased but there are lines you do not cross. I'm being vague intentionally, I don't want to go into specifics here, just needed a place to vent. I feel some better now.

Rainy Mondays make me SOOO sleepy! As if I need any help with the pain meds I'm on right now. Bladder is no better, still in lots of pain. Going to have to go back to doing the bladder installations I think, pleasant as that is.
Finales tonight of House, Big Bang Theory, and HIMYM. Love both shows, so I always tape House and watch Big Bang and HIMYM. 24 only has tonight and next Monday left, then I'll be back in Kiefer withdrawal again.
Strawberries are in at Rudd Farm, going to try to go get some after work. I hear they are wonderful this year!
Weekend was pretty uneventful. Friday night met the 430 club at Ham's for beers, went out Saturday to run a few errands, and spent yesterday with Alan's family for Mother's Day. I did talk to my Mom, they are in Utah now. They estimate they have travelled approximately 6,000 miles on this trip thus far.

Is it friday yet?

  • May. 6th, 2009 at 1:26 PM

Ready for the wknd already. Not much up today. Rainy and dreary out. Rainy weather always makes me so sleepy....yawn.
Been reading "The Gun Seller" by none other than Hugh Laurie (HOUSE). It's actually pretty good so far. I want to get Jeff Lindsay's DEXTER books also. I hear they are pretty good and I LOVE the TV series.
Mom and Dad are heading to Utah now, may go up to Wyoming.
Debating on whether I want to go to the annual book sale at St Francis Episcopal Church this week. It's always a huge event with LOTS AND LOTS of cheap used books, but I have a crapload already I haven't even read yet. I may have to ponder that.

Happy Cinco de Mayo all!

  • May. 5th, 2009 at 12:52 PM

Talked to Mom and Dad last night. After a few days at the Grand Canyon, they are now in Las Vegas! Having fun and staying at an RV park there that has casinos, restaurants, a movie theater, the whole nine. Sounds awesome. Wednesday they are heading to Utah.
Still in bladder hell today....it's getting old and I'm tired of hurting already. I'll stick it out till 5, then go home and put the heating pad to work. Gosh 5 o'clock seems like a lllooonnnngggg time away....

Okay, tired of being in pain already. Angry bladders are the pits. Popped pain meds all weekend and kept my heating pad in business. Going home tonight and chilling out. I did see the Wolverine movie Saturday. Hugh Jackman is so YUM in it too. Love those angry, brooding heros.

Almost Friday.....

  • Apr. 30th, 2009 at 2:14 PM

Crazy week, ready to rest this weekend. Would love to enjoy the spring weather, but the pollen makes it impossible for me to be outside. I'm popping allergy meds like tic tacs. Hmmmm wonder if it's possible to OD on Claritin?

Friday at last!

  • Apr. 24th, 2009 at 3:39 PM

At least I'm not sick this week. Went out last night with the area Kappa Delta alumni to Phoenix Asian Cuisine, was absolutely fabulous! Had sake, edemame, and a sushi plate. It was SOOOO good! I told Alan I've got to take him out there to eat sometime.
Going out tonight with the Friday night crew to Texas Roadhouse, for Alan's bday celebration. Made him a low sugar bday cake, but the decorating is so jacked up I'm going to have to buy a Food Lion pretty cake to take with us.
Hope to get some rest this weekend, haven't been sleeping well and been exhausted all week.
Talked to Mom, she and Dad were in San Diego this week, went to the zoo there. They said it was GREAT! They are back at Doug and Betsey's in Elgin, AZ. Her cell kept cutting out, so I don't know where they're planning to go next. Thus far, they've been to TX, NM, AZ, and CA. Spent a lot of time in NM, went to Roswell (lots of alien crap).
I've been so bad about not posting on here....hope to do better starting today!

SNOW DAY!

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Okay I haven't written on here in awhile, I'm a bad puppy. We got snow last night!!!! 6" in my backyard, which is a lot for us! Can't get down my road, so I'm staying put today. Been out playing in the snow with Sunshine, she loves it! Took some pics, will post them as soon as I can find the cord for my camera.

Rule the Seas....arrrrgghhh

  • Sep. 27th, 2008 at 5:13 PM

Started playing an online pirate game called Rule The Seas this weekend. Alan plays and is in a pirate gang, so I'm automatically in the gang too. It's fun so far, chatting with new people online and such. It'll be much better though when I'm high enough level to really do more pirate stuff. Alan's sleeping now, took some meds earlier and now is passed out. He's still in a lot of pain and having some problems but he is a bit better. My mom had knee surgery on Wed. She's doing really well thus far. Was up walking around unassisted today.

Labor Day

  • Sep. 1st, 2008 at 2:26 PM

Enjoying the extra day off today...haven't even gotten out of my pj's yet. Watching CNN's coverage to see what Gustav is doing to the Gulf coast. Bladder still flaring although not as bad as it was last week. Doggie is shedding badly, vacummed up a crapload of hair yesterday. Going to watch some of the RNC this week, see what everybody has to say

Well we finally know what's going on with Alan....it was shingles the whole time. 8 months later and we find out what's going on. Of course the shingles are gone, but he has the post neuralgia pain now. Hopefully the new meds will start helping him soon. In the meantime, my remission from IC flares is over. I've been in a bad flare for about a week now. Thinking of going to the physical therapist for a session on the TENS unit they have. We'll see how the weekend goes I guess. My mom has a torn cartilage in her knee, so she's going to have to have surgery on it before too long. Went to my Grandad's 90th bday party last Sunday, it was very nice. Guess that's about all that's going on right now....more later

I'm baaaacckkk!!!!

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Dude has it really been 5 months since my last post? Time sure flies when you're not having fun. Alan isn't any better. Let's see, since my last post he's had 2 corticosteroid injections in the spine and 2 more MRI's. The orthopaedic then tried doing nerve stimulation tests to see if there was nerve damage. He does have nerve damage which means that he does have diabetic neuropathy (which we already knew) and now we're being sent back to the endocrinologist to see how he wants to manage the neuropathy. I really hope he sends us to a neurologist, I think there's more going on than just the neuropathy.
Let's see what else....I had surgery the end of June on my foot, just got off the crutches a couple of weeks ago. Had a bone spur removed from my heel and a plantar fascia release done. I'm still having some pain if I'm on my foot for too long, but everything is still healing. Went to the beach for a week right before my surgery - it wasn't the best vacation...Alan's back was giving him a fit the whole week, he stayed in bed most of the time, plus my stepdaughter decided to have a drama a couple of times. Teenagers huh? On a happier note, everything else is ok. Work is a bit better than the last post, got through our system integration finally. Sunshine is nutty as always, been killing bunnies in the backyard and everything. Mom and Dad had lots of veggies come in the garden, so we've had squash, zucchini, cucumbers and tomatoes coming out our ears. Made some frozen pickles with all the cucumbers - they aren't hard to make and they keep for a good while. Make them with Splenda instead of sugar and you have little to no calories. Guess that's all for now....until next time...

Madness.....Basketball and other....

  • Mar. 28th, 2008 at 7:27 AM

March Madness is going strong, and so are the Tarheels! They had no problems last night in the regional semifinals against Washington St. Next game is Saturday night....GO HEELS!
Alan is about the same, he had the myelogram on Monday - had a rough day the next day but is now back to his "regular" pain that he's had. We'll get the results this coming Monday when we go back to the doctor. I'm hanging in, still stressed out majorly, and exhausted b/c I've worked a lot of extra hours this week. Carpal tunnel flaring up, my right arm is killing me. Bladder has flared up some this week, I think b/c of the stress, but it hasn't been too bad. We're doing a system integration this weekend here at work, moving to a new computer system so we'll have to work some tomorrow, perhaps Sunday also. I just hope I don't have to work Sunday, need a day just to rest and sleep....I'm pretty burnt out at the moment. Taking on some additional duties as well, which doesn't help the stress level. The next few weeks is gonna be hell, just getting adjusted to the new system and working out the bugs. Until next time....

And the stress continues.....

  • Mar. 18th, 2008 at 4:36 PM

Went back to the doctor today with Alan. The bone scan showed nothing, so of course we still do not know what is wrong. Now they want to do a myelogram, which is basically where they do a spinal tap to put die in your spine and then scan you. He has to lie flat afterwards for like 2 days. It's on Monday, I'm taking the day off to take him - apparently it's like a 3 hr test. I'm not real thrilled with the whole spinal tap thing - that kinda scares me. He's still not allowed to go back to work at the station doing inspections - he was only part time anyway, we stopped by there after the doc. A friend of ours runs it, Al went ahead and told him he didn't know when he'd be back and if he needed to hire a replacement to go ahead. If there's a place for Alan after this is all done, fine - if not, that's fine too. I told him we'd manage. We are sure ready for some answers - it's extremely stressful to not know what's wrong. I'm just so drained - physically, mentally, emotionally.....and scared.

Happy St Paddy's

  • Mar. 17th, 2008 at 7:52 PM

Drink lotsa beer, don't get too hung over

Monday again....

  • Mar. 3rd, 2008 at 2:18 PM

Had a rough weekend with headaches, but am in a much better place this week than I was last week. The doc didn't put me on Zanax as I had hoped, but I think I might be ok without it. She wanted me to try a couple of herbal sleep remedies so I got some Melatonin to try first. Suprisingly enough, it worked! I was shocked. I tried it first on Friday night and slept like 12 hours. Saturday night tried it again and got a decent nights sleep. I didn't take any last night, was already medicated with headache meds and phenergan that I knew I wouldn't need any help sleeping. Al isn't any better, so glad he goes back to the orthopaedic this week. His disability is also under review, he sees that doc tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that. Going out w/ my best bud Alicia tonight for Thai food...YUM!

Doing a bit better today than I was yesterday. Finally got a decent nights sleep thanks to Mr Xanax. If I can get another tonight, I might actually be a bit chipper tomorrow - what a change!
Almost finished w/ the Dark Tower - Roland is battling the Crimson King right now, trying to get to the tower. Guess I'll finish it tonight, pick back up on crocheting my afghan if I can concentrate enough to count my stitches. If I can't though, I've got a half knitted red wool scarf I can work on too so it's all good either way.

long awaited post...

  • Feb. 25th, 2008 at 11:49 AM

I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted - gosh, too much going on around here. Alan has been having back trouble since Christmas, finally got bad enough for him to go see an orthopaedic about it. He goes for an MRI Wednesday, then back to the doc next week for results. In the meantime, he's in extreme pain, even on percocet. It's very taxing, can't remember the last time I had a decent night's sleep and I'm making myself sick with worry. All the stress got my IC fired up this past week, and I had been doing so much better too. I just feel so helpless that I can't do a damned thing to help him. In the meantime, I'm trying to manage - reading the last book in the Dark Tower series again and I've started crocheting an afghan. I've been unsuccessful in previous attempts, so hopefully this one will actually get completed. Beach trip is planned for mid-June, I could go now and be so happy! Anyway, that's all for now....thanks for listening

Almost the weekend, thank goodness. My bladder's been very angry this week, been in a lot of pain. I did go to physical therapy today tho and I do feel a little better. Taking the kids tomorrow night to the monster truck thingie at the coliseum - my hubby's idea. It should be fun. Not much else going on really, work is about the same as always. Oh well, time for a pain pill....more later

lazy sunday....

  • Jan. 6th, 2008 at 3:38 PM

Finally took my christmas tree down, so so depressing. Tummy is doing a flippy floppy today so I'm trying some peppermint tea. Really yummy! Picked up some knitting again too, I haven't knitted in the longest time. Been playing a trial for world of warcraft, trying to decide if I want to buy it or not. It is pretty cool, I just don't play many games online too much. Some folks in the forum of ic-network.com are thinking of starting a guild for IC'ers to play together.
